Must-Have Items for Garage Organization

0

The garage is usually the largest storage area in the home. When you’re dealing with a large space and a lot of items that need to be stored in that space, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the clutter that accumulates. The key to good garage organization is having the proper tools at your disposal. If you have a place for everything, that makes it much simpler to keep everything in its place! Here are some of the must-haves to consider when you are organizing your garage:

    • Garage Cabinets
Cabinets in your garage not only keep your items organized, but they keep them protected as well. You can have professionally installed, wall-mounted cabinets put in to ensure that your items are protected from insects, moisture and spilled garage fluids. These sit several inches off of the ground, so they’re easy to clean under, as well. You could also purchase garage cabinets from a home improvement store. These will normally sit on the garage floor. Some things to look for include full backings, high quality hardware and thick shelves that can bear a heavy load.
    • Wall Storage
Your garage may provide you with 400 square feet or so of floor space, and much more wall space. It’s wise to take advantage of that space by hanging garage organizers against the walls. You could put up gridwall or slatwall to hold many light items, such as tools and sports equipment. You can also install racks to hold anything from garden equipment to ladders to aerosol cans. As your garage organization company for suggestions; you might be surprised at the variety of wall storage available!
    • Garage Shelving
Garage shelving can extend from the floor to the ceiling, so you have a ton of storage potential here. You also have a lot of choices: You can pick wood, steel, plastic or wire shelving, depending on your needs. Since garages typically have high ceilings, putting in overhead garage storage is another possibility worth considering. This can consist of more shelving or of special types of storage, such as bicycle racks.

You can hire a professional garage organizer or you can undertake a do-it-yourself project to increase your level of organization in the garage. You can read about some ideas for garage organization on the Better Homes & Gardens website to get you started. You may find that you already have some of the recommended products, like bins and baskets, in your home. It’s always a great idea to repurpose items if you can, so this might be a good way to start organizing your garage without spending too much money.Check out examples and more at Arizona Garage Designs
